The Hong Kong democracy protests of 2014 captivated the world as hundreds of thousands of people expressed their opposition against mainland China attempts to intercede with  their democratic electoral system. Also known as The Umbrella Movement, a clear message was sent to the Chinese Communist Party that a new generation of youth were not going to be easily persuaded to fall in line with their political agenda.
